What Is Dupixent Used For

Dupixent (dupilumab) is prescribed for a range of inflammatory and allergic conditions. It is commonly used for:

  • Atopic dermatitis (eczema): Moderate to severe cases in adults and children aged 6 months and older, when topical treatments are not effective or suitable[1].
  • Asthma: As an add-on maintenance therapy for moderate to severe asthma with an eosinophilic phenotype, or for those reliant on oral corticosteroids, in adults and children aged 6 years and older[2].
  • Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP): For adults and adolescents 12 years and older with inadequately controlled symptoms[1].
  • Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE): For adults and children aged 1 year and older who weigh at least 15 kg; the first and only treatment approved for children this young with EoE[6].
  • Chronic spontaneous urticaria: In adults and adolescents 12 years and older whose symptoms are not adequately controlled with H1 antihistamines[1].
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): For adults with inadequately controlled COPD with an eosinophilic phenotype[1].
  • Prurigo nodularis: For adults with this chronic skin condition[1].
  • Bullous pemphigoid: For adults with this rare blistering skin disease[1].

Dupixent works by blocking two key immune signaling proteins, interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-13 (IL-13), helping to decrease inflammation associated with these conditions[1].
