Farxiga 10 mg is primarily used to:
- Lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes, in combination with diet and exercise.[1]
- Reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have cardiovascular disease or multiple risk factors for heart disease.[1][2]
- Lower the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent medical visits for heart failure in adults with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, even if they do not have diabetes.[2][6]
- Reduce the risk of kidney disease progression, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of worsening.[3][6]
Farxiga (dapagliflozin) works by helping your body get rid of extra sugar, salt, and water through urine, which improves blood sugar control and reduces strain on the heart and kidneys.[1][4] It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.[3]
